From looking at many different genres and styles of music magazines, the one style that stands out to me mostly is R&B style magazine. I feel that the R&B style, is very modern, sleek and sophisticated. I feel that the R&B style magazines is for both a male and female audience, as there are both female and male R&B artists. Such as the Big artists, like Rhianna, Beyonce, Ne-yo, Chris brown AND Justine Timberlake.
All magazines follow the same conventions or so they should, as some break the rules, but most magazines follow the same rules. Such as, the magazine (Image and name of magazine) must fit in with the content and the target audience.
Colour scheme must run throughout the magazine creating a house style.
Also the magazine and the text of the magazine should create a relationship with the audience. It does this in many ways, such as; the photography is done in a way that invites the readers in to the magazine. E.g, Eye contact from the model or famous artist, this invites the reader in.
All magazines should include famous artists and celebrities, this increases sales and profits. This is because celebs and famous people are inspirational to the audience and people want to read about their rich and famous lifestyles.

Looking at this rock magazine, it clearly fits in with the contents and target audience. It has a house style created by using a co-ordinated colour pallet, which relating to kerrang, is a black, grey and dark red colour. This fits in well with the style of mag, a dark rock magazine.
It continues to fit in with the style of the mag by the type of text used. The text is a bold and stands out very clearly. It is a very harsh, bold text, which works well with the genre.
Looking at my genre R&B, 'GIANT' magazine breaks some rules of the usual magazine conventions.
Firstly, the photograph is an extreme close up shot, which is not usually used. The usual photography shot length for magazines in general, is head and shoulders shot or medium shot.
This image invites readers in as it has used direct address, as it looks like Alicia Keys is looking at us as readers.
